ED Chargesheet Against Sonia, Rahul Is Another Case of Vindictive Politics, Says CM Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has strongly criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for filing a chargesheet against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He said the move is yet another example of “vindictive politics” by the central government.
The ED filed the chargesheet as part of its investigation into the National Herald case. The agency has accused the Gandhis and other Congress leaders of financial irregularities. However, Siddaramaiah believes the ED is misusing its power to target opposition leaders for political reasons.
Speaking to the media, Siddaramaiah said, “The central government is using agencies like the ED to harass opposition leaders. This chargesheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is not about justice. It is about silencing the voices that challenge the BJP.”
He added that the Congress party has always stood for the people and democracy. “Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have done nothing wrong. They have worked for the welfare of the nation. The BJP is afraid of their growing support and is using the ED as a weapon,” Siddaramaiah said.
The Chief Minister also accused the central government of ignoring real issues like unemployment, rising prices, and farmers’ problems. He said that instead of solving these problems, the government is focusing on targeting political opponents.
Several other Congress leaders also supported Siddaramaiah’s statement. They said the chargesheet is an attempt to distract the public from the failures of the central government. Congress workers across the country have started protests and marches to show their support for the Gandhi family.
The ED, on the other hand, claims that it is simply doing its duty by following the law. The agency says it has found enough evidence to file the chargesheet and that the case will now move forward in court.
The issue has created fresh political tension between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. As the legal process continues, the matter is expected to spark more debate in the coming days.
