Drunk Man Fatally Run Over by Government Bus in Chennai

On the night of Tuesday, September 5, 2023, a man under the influence of alcohol tragically lost his life after falling and getting trapped beneath the rear wheels of a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus in Chennai. The incident, which occurred on Pulianthope Main Road, prompted an investigation by the Pulianthope Traffic Investigation Wing police to determine the victim’s identity.

According to authorities, the approximately 30-year-old man had been drinking on Jeevarao Street in Pulianthope before attempting to walk unsteadily along Pulianthope Main Road. As he fell while trying to reach the pavement, an MTC bus en route from Mint junction to Ambattur ran over him, resulting in his untimely demise.

Responding to the incident, Pulianthope Police arrived at the scene, and the victim’s body was subsequently sent to Government Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Inquiries are ongoing as police officials review closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage from the area to shed light on the accident.
