Delhi’s Air Quality Dips Back to ‘Severe’ Category
Despite a slight improvement on Monday evening with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 399, classified as ‘very poor,’ Delhi’s air quality reverted to the ‘severe’ category on Tuesday morning. At the Anand Vihar station in the national capital, PM 10 and PM 2.5 both reached 500, while CO was at 112 and NO2 at 123, categorizing them as ‘moderate.’
In contrast, the AQI ranges from zero to 50 are considered ‘good,’ 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory,’ 101 to 200 ‘moderate,’ 201 to 300 ‘poor,’ 301 to 400 ‘very poor,’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe.’ Stations like Delhi Technical University (DTU) witnessed PM 2.5 at 315 (‘very poor’) and PM 10 at 411 (‘severe’), with CO at 103 (‘moderate’).
The IGI Airport T3 area displayed ‘severe’ air quality, while PM 2.5 at ITO was also in the ‘severe’ category. These fluctuations highlight the ongoing air quality challenges faced by Delhi residents.
