A Delhi Police official reported on Monday that four budding criminals were arrested in the Dwarka area for attempting to extort Rs 40 lakhs from a man using tactics learned from YouTube videos. The accused individuals were identified as Ajay Kumar (26) from Uttam Nagar, Ashish (24) from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, Lucky (23), and Vishal (22) from Vijay Enclave, Dabri.
The victim lodged a complaint at the Bindapur police station on July 18, stating that he received a threatening WhatsApp call from a criminal gang demanding a ransom. The police utilized technical surveillance and arrested Vishal in Dabri, who revealed that he provided two new SIM cards to Lucky. Lucky and Ashish were apprehended based on Vishal’s statement.
During interrogation, Ashish disclosed that he gave four SIM cards to his friend Ajay, who was later arrested near the Nawada Metro station.
