Delhi High Court Seeks Police Response to Soumya Vishwanathan Murder Convicts’ Appeals
The Delhi High Court has directed the police to respond to the appeals filed by four convicts involved in the murder of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan. Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Baljit Singh Malik, and Ajay Kumar have challenged their conviction and life sentences.
The court also instructed authorities to file replies to the convicts’ interim application seeking the suspension of their sentences. Soumya Vishwanathan was shot dead on September 30, 2008, while returning home in her car from the office. The police initially claimed robbery as the motive for the killing. The court has scheduled the application for a hearing on February 12.
