Delhi HC Reserves Judgment on Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail Plea in Excise Policy Scam

On July 29, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna of the Delhi High Court reserved the verdict on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed Kejriwal’s bail, labeling him the “sutradhaar” of the scam and expressing concerns about potential witness tampering.

The CBI’s counsel argued that Kejriwal’s arrest was crucial for concluding the investigation. Conversely, Kejriwal’s defense, led by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, claimed the arrest was based on presumptions without direct evidence. The final charge sheet has been filed, and the case has attracted significant attention, especially following Kejriwal’s previous bail in related money laundering charges.
