Delhi HC Greenlights CBI’s Bid to Revisit 2G Spectrum Case Acquittals

In a significant development, the Delhi High Court has granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to challenge the acquittal of former telecom minister A. Raja in the 2G spectrum allocation case. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, after scrutinizing the evidence, acknowledged the CBI’s argument for a comprehensive re-evaluation of the evidence.

This decision comes five years after the CBI initially contested the trial court’s verdict. The case has now advanced from the stage of ‘leave to appeal’ to a regular appeal, signifying a deeper examination of the matter on its merits. The verdict marks a pivotal juncture in the legal battle surrounding one of India’s most high-profile corruption cases. It underscores the judiciary’s commitment to impartially assess complex legal issues and uphold the integrity of the legal process. The upcoming hearings in May will shed light on the intricacies of the case and determine its trajectory moving forward.
