Delhi Commission for Women met Manipur sexually assaulted and parading victims’ family

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal visited Manipur and met with the family members of the two women who were allegedly stripped and assaulted. The families informed Maliwal that they have not received any counseling, legal aid, or compensation from the government despite the traumatic incident.

The two women, who were paraded naked, are still awaiting counseling and compensation from the state. Maliwal strongly criticized the state government for its lack of action in addressing the violence. During her visit, Maliwal met with the mother and husband of the survivors whose assault video had gone viral.

Along with DCW member Vandana Singh, she traveled to Churachandpur to interact with the survivors and understand their situation.
