Delays in Cyclone Michaung Relief Distribution in Chennai

Despite the State government’s initiative to distribute ₹6000 in flood relief to affected families, many residents in Chennai areas like Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Korattur, Anna Nagar, Velachery, and Kolathur remain without assistance. Confusion over decision-making authority and insufficient verification staff have hampered the relief efforts.

Civic officials have directed residents to submit petitions, but the process remains slow. While 23.18 lakh families have received aid, local bodies struggle with data entry and verification, leaving many eligible residents without support. Councillors highlight the urgent need for better coordination and resources to ensure timely distribution of relief funds.
