Death Toll in Israel-Hamas Conflict Nears 3,000

The death toll in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip is approaching 3,000 as violence entered its seventh consecutive day. According to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, at least 1,300 Israeli civilians and soldiers have been killed since the start of the Hamas attack on October 7.

Conricus also noted that 3,391 people have been injured in the terrorist attacks. In response, Israel has launched extensive airstrikes on Gaza, hitting numerous targets and resulting in significant destruction. On the Palestinian side, the Health Ministry reported a cumulative death toll of 1,569, with 7,212 injured in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

As of the latest report, 317 Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours, and the number of internally displaced persons in Gaza has surged to 423,378. Gaza has also been grappling with a full electricity blackout after Israel ceased its electricity and fuel supply to the region. Consequently, Gaza’s sole power plant had to shut down as well, impacting critical services such as wastewater treatment and desalination plants.
