Cyclonic Circulation Over Bay Brings Rain to Chennai
Chennai and neighboring districts are experiencing renewed rainfall as a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal brings moisture-laden winds. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasts heavy to very heavy rain in Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram districts on Monday. The convergence of southeast and northeast winds contributes to the precipitation.
Although not as intense as during Cyclone Michaung, the rain is expected to persist throughout the night, with light to moderate intensity. Weather blogger Pradeep John anticipates the possibility of very heavy rains causing localized water stagnation. The city is prepared, with the civic body deploying pumps and workers to address potential flooding.
