CSI Protests Governor Ravi’s Allegations Against Missionaries
Members of the Church of South India (CSI) and political leaders gathered at Valluvarkottam to protest Governor R.N. Ravi’s recent remarks on missionaries Robert Caldwell and G.U. Pope. CSI archbishops passed a resolution expressing deep anguish and decided to conduct a demonstration, attended by Deputy Moderator K. Reuban Mark and other officials.
Disapproving of Ravi’s allegations, the bishops presented original degree certificates from Queen Victoria in 1853 and demanded an unconditional apology from the Governor. VCK leader Thol. Thirmavalavan and DMK MLA Inigo Irudayaraj also participated in condemning the remarks and supporting the CSI’s stance.
