CPI(M) Eyes Aryadan Shoukath Amid Congress Disciplinary Committee Appearance
In a political move that could have repercussions, the Kerala CPI(M) is showing interest in Aryadan Shoukath, the son of Congress veteran Aryadan Mohammed, who is set to appear before his party’s disciplinary committee. Shoukath drew the ire of his party when he led and organized a rally in support of Palestine against the advice of the state Congress leadership.
His actions prompted the state party leadership to issue a show-cause notice and summon him to the disciplinary committee. Responding to the situation, CPI(M) veteran A.K. Balan expressed strong support for Shoukath, suggesting that if Congress took action against him, the Left would protect and welcome him into their fold.
Aryadan Mohammed, known for his role in factional feuds within the Congress, passed away last year. In response, K. Muraleedharan, the son of Congress leader Karunakaran, advised Balan not to meddle in other party’s affairs, asserting that the Congress can handle its matters independently.
