CPI (Maoists) Condemn Police Firing and Murders in Kakur-Tekametta Forest
The West Sub-Zonal Bureau (Gadchiroli) of Dandakaranya Special Zone of the CPI (Maoist) urged democrats, rights activists, and tribal organizations to condemn the ‘brutal murders’ by police officers during a combing operation in the Kakur-Tekametta forest of Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, bordering Maharashtra, on April 30.
According to the CPI (Maoist) spokesperson Srinivas, the police surrounded the area during a traditional festival celebration, opening fire and resulting in the deaths of four tribal farmers and six revolutionaries. The party condemned the alleged brutal massacre and urged people to denounce ‘Operation Kagaar’. The statement alleged that a 60-year-old man, Joganna, was brutally killed by the police despite being unarmed and attempting to flee.
