CPI-M Accuses ED of Harassment in Cooperative Bank Loan Scam Probe
The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) investigation into the Rs 500 crore loan scam involving cooperative banks in Thrissur district, which has implicated A.C. Moideen, a prominent CPI-M legislator and former state minister, has drawn strong criticism from the party’s state Secretary, M.V. Govindan. Govindan alleged that the ED is using threatening methods to harass individuals called in for questioning, including a party councilor who was allegedly manhandled.
He accused the ED of targeting the CPI-M and its leaders, claiming that the agency’s officials from North India are conducting the probe in an unfair manner. The ED has already arrested two individuals in connection with the case, while both the Congress and the BJP have accused the CPI-M of involvement in the scam.
