Coordination Meeting Addresses Expedited Trials in Chennai Courts
A coordination meeting involving judicial officers, public prosecutors, and Greater Chennai Police officials was convened on Friday to discuss the acceleration of pending trials in the courts. Chaired by Principal City Civil/Sessions Judge S. Alli, the meeting included the participation of City Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate N. Kothandaraj, Metropolitan Magistrates from various locations, Additional Commissioners, and other police officers.
The attendees deliberated on guidelines for investigation officers during trials, the process of filing FIR in courts, the appearance of officers and production of witnesses, and the prompt submission of charge sheets. Special emphasis was placed on sensitizing Investigating Officers handling POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act cases to adhere to court guidelines. The meeting also addressed the swift execution of warrants and the need for expedited action by higher police authorities to conclude long-pending cases promptly.
