Controversial Demolition of YSRCP Office Sparks Legal Battle

Authorities from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) demolished the under-construction YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) office in Guntur on June 12, despite a High Court appeal to halt the action. The demolition, conducted early in the morning with heavy machinery, targeted an allegedly illegally occupied 870.40 square meter plot.

The YSRCP had filed a writ petition arguing that the demolition was illegal and violated principles of natural justice. The party claimed the CRDA acted in contempt of court by proceeding with the demolition after a halt order was communicated. This incident marks the first time in the state’s history that a party office has been demolished, prompting further legal scrutiny and political tension.
