Consultant Appointed for Development Plan of Chennai Outer Ring Road Growth Corridor
The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has appointed a consultant to prepare a detailed development plan (DDP) for the Chennai Outer Ring Road (CORR) growth corridor. The development plan will involve identifying areas for grid road formation, marking spaces for public facilities, and earmarking lands for industrial, commercial, and residential use.
CMDA Minister P.K. Sekarbabu highlighted that the Chief Minister envisions CORR as a high-growth corridor, expected to attract business, industry, and residential activities while helping decongest the core city.
The consultant, Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd., will focus on transit-oriented development (TOD) for the 25 sq. km. corridor, incorporating multiple transportation facilities to address congestion and support economic development. The initiative aims to upgrade existing systems and enhance urban planning for sustainable growth.
