After a search operation following a construction site collapse in Chennai on Monday, the body of one victim, S. Naresh, was successfully retrieved on Friday morning. The incident occurred on Five Furlong Road near Velachery, triggered by heavy rains associated with Cyclone Michaung. Naresh, employed as an attendant at a fuel pumping station, was confirmed as the first fatality in the collapse.
The rescue team is still working on retrieving the body of the second victim, R. Jayaseelan, a construction engineer. The process is challenging due to the belief that Jayaseelan was inside a tipped-over container at the site. The retrieved body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at Government Royapettah Hospital.
