Construction Begins on Khader Nawaz Khan Road Pedestrian Plaza in Chennai

Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister K.N. Nehru has launched the construction of a pedestrian plaza on Khader Nawaz Khan Road in Nungambakkam, Chennai. The modern pedestrian plaza, covering a 650-meter stretch of the road, is expected to be completed in 18 months. The Greater Chennai Corporation plans to revitalize and transform this area into a vibrant public space with landscaping, seating areas, play zones for children, and designated vending zones for arts, crafts, and street food.

The project aims to create a pedestrian-friendly destination in the city and improve road safety. The plaza will feature artistic lighting, signage, branding, and underground utilities. The estimated cost for the project is ₹19.81 crore, funded by the State Infrastructure and Amenities Fund and GCC Capital Fund.
