Congress Alleges Modi Government’s Manipulation of Electoral Bonds Scheme

The Congress party has accused the Modi government of manipulating the electoral bonds scheme, asserting that the State Bank of India (SBI) is being used to conceal dubious dealings. The SBI’s request to extend the deadline for disclosing electoral bond details until June 30 has drawn sharp criticism from Congress leaders, who argue that this move is an attempt to circumvent the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the opaque nature of the scheme, alleging that it undermines democratic principles and provides a veil for illicit transactions. Kharge highlighted the Supreme Court’s ruling declaring the scheme unconstitutional and emphasized the BJP’s alleged involvement in fraudulent activities.

Moreover, Congress MP Manish Tewari called for transparency in revealing donor identities, urging the Supreme Court to reject SBI’s plea. The Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, has condemned the government’s efforts to shield Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s purported involvement in the electoral bond controversy.
