Congress Alleges Agnipath Scheme Threatens National Security

The Congress party, led by president Mallikarjun Kharge, has accused the Modi government of jeopardizing national security through the implementation of the Agnipath scheme. Kharge asserted that the scheme, aimed at military recruitment, poses a significant threat to the country’s security by reducing the annual intake of recruits from 75,000 to 46,000. He emphasized that the declining recruitment rate could compromise India’s security for the next decade.

Additionally, the Congress criticized the scheme’s short training period of six months for recruits, questioning its effectiveness in preparing soldiers for battle. The party pledged to revoke the Agnipath scheme if an INDIA bloc government is formed, promising justice to the patriotic youth of the nation. Despite Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s defense of the scheme, alleging its attractiveness to youth with guaranteed full-term jobs, the Congress remains steadfast in its stance against it, deeming it detrimental to national interests.
