Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized the government, alleging that despite a 38% decrease in crude oil prices, consumers have not benefited from the reduction. On February 7, Congress launched an attack on the government, accusing it of continuing to exploit the public despite the drop in crude oil prices over the past two years.
Ramesh cited a media report to support his claim, emphasizing the discrepancy between the reduction in crude oil rates and the persistently high fuel prices. In a social media post, Ramesh highlighted the contradiction between the government’s rhetoric on inflation and the reality of the ongoing exploitation of consumers. He echoed Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that public funds are being siphoned off to benefit “crony capitalist friends” rather than being used for the welfare of the people.
Ramesh characterized this situation as a grave injustice to the nation’s citizens, further underscoring the Congress’s commitment to addressing such disparities through initiatives like the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The Congress has consistently criticized the government’s economic policies, citing concerns about rising unemployment and inflation.
