Combatting the Rise of FedEx Fraud in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu has witnessed a surge in FedEx fraud cases, with over 1,300 reported in the past five months, according to police sources. Elderly individuals, high-income earners, and women are particularly targeted by cyber fraudsters posing as courier company representatives. These scammers use various tactics, including impersonating law enforcement officials and coercing victims into transferring funds under false pretenses.

Operating from foreign countries, the fraudsters utilize sophisticated methods to evade detection, making it challenging for law enforcement to apprehend them. City Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore has urged the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing personal information over the phone. The Cyber Crime Police have launched investigations into these cases, emphasizing the need for public vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to combat this growing threat.
