Cocaine Trafficking Network Busted, Three Arrested in Chennai
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chennai zone, achieved a major breakthrough on Friday by uncovering a cocaine trafficking network and apprehending three individuals, including two Nigerian nationals. The operation resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of contraband, including 78 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of charas, and 30 blots of LSD, a popular street drug. Acting on specific intelligence, NCB officers conducted an interception near Rohini cinema in Koyambedu and successfully confiscated the illegal substances from the two Nigerian nationals.
A Chennai resident, who was suspected to be the recipient of the contraband, was also arrested during the operation. Following the arrests, all three suspects were remanded in judicial custody pending further investigation. Initial questioning of the detainees revealed that the drugs were sourced by Nigerian nationals from Bengaluru and subsequently brought to Chennai for local distribution.
NCB’s Zonal Director, P. Aravindhan, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to uncover additional information about the trafficking network and any other potential accomplices. The NCB’s successful operation has dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug trade and underscores their commitment to combat drug trafficking activities in the region.
