CISF takes over Parliament security from Delhi Police
Around 400 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel have been deployed at the Parliament complex following a security breach in December last year. In the wake of the breach, 150 Delhi Police personnel have been withdrawn, leaving only a small unit of around 75 officers for VIP duty. The CISF deployment is part of a phased process initiated since January, with around 3,000 CISF officials expected to be deployed.
They are now responsible for access control, including frisking and baggage scanning, as well as training with Parliament Security Service (PSS) officials. The move comes as part of a comprehensive security revamp of the Parliament complex ahead of the new Lok Sabha’s composition in June.
