Chinese Warship Visits Sri Lanka Amid Diplomatic Considerations
A Chinese warship, HAI YANG 24 HAO, has arrived at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka for a three-day formal visit, marking its presence almost a year after the controversial docking of a Chinese vessel with ballistic missile and satellite tracking facilities.
The 129-meter-long warship from China’s People’s Liberation Army, commanded by Commander Jin Xin and manned by a crew of 138, will depart on Saturday. Last year, despite India’s security concerns, the Chinese vessel Yuan Wang 5 docked at Hambantota Port after consultations between Sri Lanka’s government and relevant parties. The recent visit underscores diplomatic considerations between the two countries.
