Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to embark on a four-day visit to the United States, where he will meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. The visit, scheduled from October 26 to October 29, is expected to focus on urging Beijing to take a more constructive approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict and the situation in Ukraine.
It remains uncertain whether Wang will meet with President Joe Biden. This diplomatic development follows Wang’s recent conversation with Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen, during which he emphasized the importance of self-defense within the boundaries of international humanitarian law and called for preventing further escalations and a humanitarian disaster.
Wang also advocated for the two-state solution and encouraged peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians. China has been actively engaged in diplomacy regarding the ongoing conflict, sending its Middle East envoy Zhai Jun to the region to facilitate talks.
