China Accuses U.S. of Provoking South China Sea Tensions
China has accused the United States of playing a “dishonourable role” in supporting the Philippines, particularly regarding issues in the South China Sea. The Chinese foreign ministry criticized the U.S. for provoking tensions between China and the region, asserting that the Philippines’ foreign policy serves external interests.
Despite this, China expressed its willingness to collaborate with ASEAN nations, including the Philippines, to manage differences at sea and enhance sea-related cooperation. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s denouncement of illegal actions in the disputed waters was met with China’s rebuke, highlighting ongoing tensions in the region.
