Chennai’s Electoral Roll Expands to Over 40 Lakh Voters

The Chennai district’s final electoral roll for 2025 has expanded to 40,15,878 voters, reflecting a notable increase of 63,380 electors compared to the previous draft. Among them, 19,70,279 are men, 20,44,323 women, and 1,276 others, with Velachery recording the highest voter count of 3,16,642. The revision process involved the removal of 32,804 names, including deceased individuals and permanently relocated residents, while 96,184 new voter applications were approved.

The electoral roll was officially released by Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran and is accessible both online and at designated electoral offices for public verification. Citizens can review their details and request corrections via the Election Commission’s official website. This comprehensive update aims to ensure accurate representation and voter participation in the upcoming elections.
