Chennai Traffic Police Announce New Year’s Eve Diversions and Parking Arrangements
Chennai traffic police have revealed plans for New Year’s Eve celebrations, implementing diversions and parking arrangements to ensure safety and minimize fatalities. Foreshore Service Road and Kamarajar Salai from War Memorial to Light House will be closed for vehicles heading towards Marina Beach from 7 p.m. on Sunday until 6 a.m. on Monday.
Additionally, 6th Avenue and several junctions leading to Elliot’s Beach in Besant Nagar will be closed for all vehicles from 8 p.m. on Sunday until 6 a.m. on Monday. Traffic diversions for Marina Beach include routes through Greenways Road, South Canal Road junctions, Mandaveli, R.A. Puram 2nd Main Road, R.K. Mutt Road, and Luz Mylapore. Parking arrangements have been made at various locations, including Swami Sivananda Salai, Wallajah Road, Bharathi Salai, PWD Office Road, Dr. Besant Road, Lloyds Road, and the Queen Mary’s College campus for Marina Beach visitors.
Elliot’s Beach visitors will find parking facilities on selected avenues. All flyovers in the city will be closed from 10 p.m. on Sunday to 6 a.m. on Monday. The traffic police have issued warnings against drunk driving, speeding, triples, helmet-less riding, and noise pollution, with violators to be penalized under the Motor Vehicles Act using Automatic Number Plate Recognition and CCTV cameras.
