Chennai Police Set Guidelines for Vinayaka Chaturthi Festivities
Chennai police have outlined guidelines for organizers of the upcoming Vinayaka Chaturthi festival to ensure the smooth conduct of worship, processions, and idol immersion. During a consultative meeting with festival organizers, authorities emphasized that banners or billboards of political parties or religious leaders should not be placed at worship points.
The meeting, chaired by Additional Commissioner of Police Prem Anand Sinha, involved representatives from 29 organizations, including the Hindu Munnani, Hindu Makkal Katchi, Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
Guidelines include obtaining permissions from relevant departments, adhering to statute height restrictions, avoiding installations near religious, educational, or healthcare institutions, and following fire safety regulations. Idols should be carried on permitted routes during the immersion, with no firecrackers allowed in related areas, in line with court directions and government rules.
