Chennai Police Bust Drug Trafficking Operation, Seize Methaqualone Worth ₹25 Lakh
In a significant crackdown, Chennai police, specifically officials from the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB), CID, arrested two individuals involved in drug trafficking in Mannadi. Acting on a tip-off, the NIB conducted a raid that led to the apprehension of Abdul Rahman Yerzath, 42, of Mannadi, and Ajith alias Ajith Kumar, 20, of Seven Wells.
The search revealed approximately one kilogram of methaqualone, a narcotic drug, in their possession. A preliminary test confirmed the substance’s identity, and the seized contraband is estimated to be worth ₹25 lakh in the market. Both suspects were promptly arrested, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to curbing illegal drug activities in the region.
