Chennai Metro Witnesses Surge in Patronage with Packed Coaches

Chennai Metro Rail has experienced a remarkable rise in commuter numbers during July, with trains running with packed coaches during peak hours. According to data till July 29, the daily average number of travelers reached 2.68 lakh, compared to 2.46 lakh passengers in June.

On most weekdays, the trains are carrying close to 2.90 lakh passengers, with the maximum crowd observed between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. During weekends, there is a notable drop of 20% to 30% in the number of commuters. Within a few days, the number of travelers even crossed the 3-lakh mark, showcasing the increasing popularity and patronage of Chennai Metro Rail among the city’s residents.
