Chennai Metro Water to Halt Cash Payments for Taxes and Charges
Chennai Metro Water has announced that it will cease accepting cash payments for water, sewer tax, and related charges after September 30. Starting from October 1, these payments must be made digitally through various electronic means, including e-seva centers, online platforms, and by using checks and demand drafts.
Cash counters will no longer be operational to encourage smoother digital transactions and reduce queues at payment centers. To facilitate check and demand draft payments, drop boxes have been placed at all area depot offices. Additionally, consumers can utilize UPI, QR code, and PoS modes to remit taxes and charges.
