Chennai Metro Phase 2 project work starts between Sholinganallur and SIPCOT

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has commenced work on the phase II project between Sholinganallur and SIPCOT. The contractor has initiated the construction of a test pile, and full-scale piling will begin in about a month. The project involves two separate contracts: Nehru Nagar-Sholinganallur and Sholinganallur-SIPCOT.

This development marks a significant milestone in the expansion of Chennai’s metro network. The construction activities are expected to enhance connectivity along the Old Mahabalipuram Road corridor. The CMRL is focused on ensuring the timely completion of the project while maintaining high construction standards.

The phase II project aims to further improve public transportation in Chennai and cater to the growing commuter demands in the area.
