Chennai Launches Program to Distribute Menstrual Cups to Women

A pilot program named “Thinkal” aimed at providing menstrual cups to economically disadvantaged women in South Chennai has been launched. South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian initiated the project, which plans to distribute menstrual cups to 1,500 women in the reproductive age group over the next three months. The cups are provided by ennVee Solutions, a corporate social responsibility initiative of HLL Lifecare.

The “Thinkal” project, previously launched in Kerala and other states seeks to promote menstrual hygiene and sustainability. The program launch was attended by Durga Stalin, wife of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, and Mayor R. Priya, who highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene for women and the environment. South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian expressed the hope that the project could be expanded to other districts in the state.
