Chennai Green Committee and Court-Appointed Team Inspect Shenoy Nagar Park

Led by Collector M. Aruna, the Chennai district green committee conducted a joint inspection of Thiru Vi Ka Park in Shenoy Nagar, accompanied by a five-member committee appointed by the Madras High Court. The purpose of the inspection is to create a joint report to be presented before the court on September 7.

The inspection follows concerns raised by amicus curiae Chevanan Mohan about the park’s restoration work stalling due to legal disputes. The restoration work had been disrupted since May 2023, when Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) contested the formation of the court-appointed committee.

The report will address the restoration progress, particularly the green cover, after CMRL cut down trees for metro rail work, pledging to restore the park.
