Chennai’s public transport system, Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), has recently joined other government line agencies in leveraging social media platforms to engage with the public. With a presence on Facebook, Instagram, and X, MTC aims to provide updated information about bus routes, share trivia, and address user grievances.
The move follows the trend set by agencies like Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), Greater Chennai Corporation, Chennai Traffic Police, and Tangedco, which actively use social media for information dissemination and grievance redressal. The agencies have found success in addressing public complaints, sharing updates on services, and even conducting awareness campaigns.
The adoption of social media platforms by government agencies reflects a commitment to transparency, public communication, and efficient grievance resolution.
