Chennai Corporation Prepares Hospitals for Soaring Temperatures
With the temperature rising, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is taking proactive measures to address heat-related illnesses. Signposts directing patients to hospitals will be erected across the city, facilitating quick access to medical assistance for heatstroke and other heat-related ailments. Oral rehydration solution has been made available at 188 locations, and residents have been cautioned against venturing out during peak hours of heat.
Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of seeking medical help at urban primary health centers and other healthcare facilities in case of heat-related illnesses. Additionally, residents have been advised to avoid sun exposure from noon to 3 p.m., wear light-colored clothes, and protect themselves from direct sunlight. Children have been especially urged to avoid playing in the sun to prevent heat-related health issues.
