Chennai Corporation Organizes Exhibition on Chandrayaan-3 Mission
In celebration of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has organized an exhibition focused on the Indian Space Research Organization’s Chandrayaan-3 mission at Chennai Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Nungambakkam. This initiative, a collaboration between the civic body and the startup Mango Education, is designed to provide children with an immersive experience in astronomy and stimulate greater interest in science.
The exhibit includes a room designed to resemble the moon, complete with grey sand, craters, and glowing stars on the walls. A seven-minute video about the Chandrayaan-3 mission and an address by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is featured inside the room. Additionally, a telescope has been set up on the premises for students to observe celestial bodies.
Through engaging games and interactive materials, students are taught facts about space missions and space travel. This exhibit aims to kindle students’ curiosity and foster a deeper interest in science, especially given the growing apprehension towards the subject. Since its inauguration, approximately 400 students have visited the exhibit, providing them with insights into space exploration and the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
