Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan has initiated a comprehensive cleaning drive targeting all burial grounds and crematoriums in the city’s 15 zones. During a visit to the Krishnampet burial ground in the Teynampet zone, he actively participated in the cleaning efforts.
The cleanup of 17 burial grounds was successfully accomplished on the first day. The remaining 42 burial grounds will also be cleaned soon. In addition to this initiative, the Corporation is set to remove damaged vehicles from roads starting September 1, with a focus on increasing parking capacity through the construction of multi-level parking lots in 10 locations.
Moreover, the fine for impounded cattle will be heightened to prevent stray cattle from posing risks to the public.
