Chennai Corporation and Line Agencies to Launch Projects to Prevent Pollution in Adyar Creek
The Greater Chennai Corporation, along with various line agencies, is set to implement projects aimed at preventing pollution in unique ecosystems like the Adyar Creek, which support diverse flora and fauna. During inspections, officials observed piles of solid waste in several parts of the Adyar creek, emphasizing the need for awareness campaigns among residents to combat this issue.
The impact of high tide and low tide on waste accumulation in the creek will also be studied. Garbage dumped upstream in different parts of the city along waterways has been contributing to pollution in the creek, particularly during periods of rainfall. Efforts to combat plastic pollution and ongoing eco-restoration efforts in the creek are expected to yield positive results.
