In a bid to address overcrowding in prisons and expedite the resolution of cases, a Prison Adalat was conducted on Saturday at Central Prison-II in Puzhal.
The event was inaugurated by Madras High Court Judges Justice S. Vaidyanathan and Justice S.M. Subramani, along with other distinguished figures including Director General of Police for Prisons and Correctional Services Amaresh Pujari.
The Prison Adalat aims to address the situation of prisoners who have been granted bail but continue to languish in jails, as well as undertrials who have spent extended periods in prison for non-heinous offenses.
