Central area roadworks are in full swing and will be completed in September

Roadworks in central areas of Chennai are currently underway to meet the September 30 deadline. Out of the 1,389 interior roads that need to be laid, only 361 have been completed so far. Over the past two months, approximately 40 km of road has been laid in bus routes and interior parts of the central region of Chennai.

Since May 1, the Greater Chennai Corporation has completed a total of 1,093 roads out of the 3,767 tendered, including 897 bituminous and 193 concrete roads, covering a distance of 193 km across the city. These roadworks encompass both bus route roads and interior roads.
