Caretaker Arrested for Assaulting Octogenarian in Mogappair

In Mogappair, Chennai, a 54-year-old caretaker was arrested by the Nolambur police for assaulting an 84-year-old woman under her care. The victim, C. Pon Rasathi, resides alone in an apartment, with her family members abroad and relatives in other parts of the city. The caretaker, B. Kanniammal, had been hired through an agency a month and a half ago.

Following an alleged fall, Kanniammal informed the victim’s relative about a fracture. However, upon scrutinizing CCTV footage from the house, it was discovered that the caretaker had assaulted and pushed Ms. Rasathi, leading to the fracture. A case was registered based on the complaint, and Kanniammal was subsequently arrested.
