Canadian MP Raises Concerns Over Alleged Threats to Hindu Temple by Pro-Khalistani Supporters
Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya, of Indian origin, expressed alarm over a purported video depicting pro-Khalistani supporters in Surrey, allegedly intending to cause trouble at the Hindu Laxmi Narayan Mandir. Arya called on Canadian authorities to intervene, citing previous instances of Khalistan supporters verbally abusing a Sikh family outside a gurdwara in Surrey.
He emphasized that these actions, carried out in the name of freedom of speech, constitute hate crimes against Hindu-Canadians. Arya urged authorities to address these incidents openly and publicly, stressing that allowing such actions to persist is unacceptable.
Clarifying the location of the previous incident, Sikh activist Puneet Sahani noted that the abuse occurred in Abbotsford, not Surrey, underlining the ongoing tensions within the community.
