Call for Simplification of Postal Ballot System for Election Duty Staff
S. Ramakrishna, President of the Municipal Teachers’ Federation of Andhra Pradesh, has urged the Chief Election Commissioner to simplify the postal ballot system for employees on election duty. Highlighting the complexities of the current system, he noted that a significant number of postal ballots were invalidated in the 2019 Assembly elections.
Ramakrishna proposed adopting the streamlined process used for senior citizens over 85, which requires less bureaucratic oversight. He also called for an extension of the postal ballot submission deadline to June 3, 2024, and addressed the need for resolving discrepancies in payments to election staff.
