BWSSB Implements Mandatory Aerator Installation to Combat Water Crisis

In response to the ongoing water crisis, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has mandated the installation of aerators, which conserve water, on all taps in public spaces. BWSSB Chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar likened aerators to “water tap masks” and emphasized their crucial role in water conservation.

The initiative aims to save between 60% and 85% of water usage, ultimately reducing monthly water bills for consumers. The rule will be enforced from March 21, with a deadline of March 31 for compliance across all establishments. BWSSB is collaborating with accredited plumbers to ensure awareness and installation, signaling a collective effort to address the water scarcity issue. Additionally, BWSSB offices will lead by example, installing aerators on all their taps by March 21.
