During the construction of a stormwater drain near the Cooum in Chintadripet, a building housing a church and eight shops was damaged on Sunday. The Greater Chennai Corporation has decided to request the building owners to demolish the structure on Arunachalam Street as it is deemed at risk of collapsing during future rainfall.
The officials have stated that the building owners will not receive any compensation, and the demolition will be carried out by the Corporation. The damaged property is expected to be demolished to prevent any potential hazards.
